Faber‑com MAPS Joystick — Voltage / Danfoss Output

Product Overview

The MAPS joystick from Faber‑com is a single‑axis, electronic joystick providing a voltage (signal) output compatible with Danfoss proportional systems. It is part of the MAP / MAS joystick family, where “MAPS” generally refers to a version with voltage / signal (rather than pure PWM or other output types). The joystick is engineered to directly interface with proportional valves or control electronics without needing a separate driver card.

Key Features & Capabilities

  • Single Voltage Output
The MAPS joystick delivers a proportional voltage output signal. Typical selectable ranges include:
     – 0 to 5 V
     – 0 to 10 V
     – 5 → 0 → 5 V (i.e. centered output)
     – 0.5 → 2.5 → 4.5 V
Custom ranges within 0–10 V are also supported.
  • Ratiometric Output Option
Supports ratiometric signaling (25 %, 50 %, 75 % of supply voltage) to ensure compatibility with Danfoss valve inputs.
  • Hall‑Effect Sensing
Joystick position is detected using redundant Hall effect sensors that measure the magnetic field of a permanent magnet—this non‑contact sensing method avoids mechanical wear and improves durability.
  • Direct Valve Control
The joystick is capable of directly driving PWM or ratiometric solenoid valves, eliminating the need for auxiliary driver circuits.
  • Adjustable Parameters
Onboard parameters that can typically be configured include:
     • Output curve shape (linear or parabolic)
     • Signal ramps (rise/fall times up to 25 s in 0.1 s steps)
     • Deadband settings
     • Blocking or limiting one or both sides of output
     • Speed reduction function
     • Digital directional outputs (FAULT, etc.)
     • Optional friction or spring‑return lever styles
  • Configuration & Programming
All working parameters are programmable via a serial interface using Faber‑com’s configuration software (e.g. SepSim) and a serial adapter (e.g. AISR).
A programming port (often M8) is provided.
  • Protection & Reliability
The internal electronics include protection against reverse polarity, short circuits on outputs, and stable feedback control to maintain output consistency despite supply fluctuations.
  • Mechanical / Electrical Specs
     • Supply Voltage: 10 to 30 VDC
     • Operating Temperature Range: –40 °C to +70 °C
     • Connector: 20 cm lead with Deutsch connector (e.g. DT04‑8 or variant)
     • Working Angle (lever deflection): Typically around ±26°
     • LED Indicator: Multicolor LED beneath panel indicates power and fault status
     • Ingress Protection: Designed for robust, industrial environments

Use Cases & Applications

  • Control panels in mobile or industrial hydraulic systems
  • Direct control of Danfoss proportional valves via voltage or ratiometric signals
  • Marine, off‑road, or rugged environments where a signal joystick output is preferred
  • Situations where eliminating external driver modules is advantageous for simplicity, space, or reliability
