Faber‑Com PISPR Joystick Programming Module

Product Overview

The PISPR is a specialized serial interface adapter used to connect Faber‑Com electronic devices—such as joysticks, regulators, proportional controllers, and other programmable modules—to a PC. It functions as a programming and calibration bridge, allowing full parameter configuration, firmware updates, and diagnostic monitoring via Faber‑Com’s software tools (e.g. SepSim).

This module is essential for integrators and service technicians who need to customize joystick behavior, adjust ramp settings, define output characteristics, or perform firmware upgrades.

Key Features & Capabilities

  • M8 Connector Interface: Connects directly to Faber‑Com devices via their M8 serial port, enabling plug‑and‑play connection for calibration and programming.
  • RS-232 / USB Connectivity: Acts as a converter between the joystick or device’s M8 port and a PC’s serial (COM) or USB-serial interface, enabling communication with configuration software.
  • Full Parameter Access: Allows access to all operational parameters of the connected device, including output curves, ramp rates, current limits, deadband, and advanced settings.
  • Firmware Updating: Enables firmware (software) updates on Faber‑Com modules when newer versions are released.
  • Diagnostic Monitoring: Supports real-time monitoring of device status, signal levels, and internal variables for troubleshooting and tuning.
  • Compatible Devices: Works with Faber‑Com joysticks (MAP, MAS, etc.), proportional regulators (VPP, VPO, VPC, etc.), ramp generators (VRG) and other modules that support serial configuration.
  • Software Support: Interfaces with Faber‑Com’s Windows configuration software (SepSim or equivalent) to read, modify, save, and restore parameter sets.

Typical Use Cases

  • Calibration of joysticks (e.g. setting min/max current, deadband, ramp times)
  • Adjusting proportional regulator parameters (e.g. gain, offset)
  • Upgrading module firmware after a software release
  • Troubleshooting device behavior via direct monitoring of internal metrics
  • Replicating configurations across multiple units by reading from one and writing to another
